Deadlock Gets a Big Update from Valve

Apr 06,25

Valve has recently released a major update for Deadlock, featuring a complete overhaul of the game's map. The new design shifts from the previous four-lane setup to a more traditional three-lane format, commonly seen in MOBA games. This significant change is poised to reshape the gameplay dynamics, requiring players to rethink their strategies and resource distribution. Previously, the game operated on a "1 vs 2" lane split, but with the new layout, it's likely that each lane will now see two heroes, fundamentally altering team compositions and tactics.

The map redesign also involves adjustments to the placement of neutral camps, buffs, and other strategic elements. To aid players in adapting to these changes, Valve has introduced a new "map exploration" mode. This feature allows players to navigate the updated environment without the pressure of enemies or allies, making it easier to get accustomed to the new layout.

In addition to the map changes, the patch includes updates to the Soul Orb system. Players can now collect souls without needing to deliver the final blow to enemies, which should speed up resource accumulation. The effects of souls have also been tweaked, with reduced hover times in the air to enhance gameplay flow.

Further enhancements include modifications to sprint mechanics and character balance. The update also introduces support for advanced technologies such as DLSS, FSR, NVIDIA Reflex, and Anti-Lag 2.0, promising improved performance and smoother gameplay. Numerous bugs have been fixed as well, contributing to a more stable gaming experience. For a comprehensive list of all changes, be sure to visit the official patch notes page.
