Helldivers 2 has continued its triumphant march, recently securing two prestigious BAFTA Game Awards: Best Multiplayer and Best Music, out of a total of five nominations. These accolades mark the end of a highly successful awards season for the Swedish developer Arrowhead, capping off what has been a remarkable year.

It's worth recalling that Helldivers 2 holds the title of the fastest-selling PlayStation Studios game ever, with an impressive 12 million copies sold within just 12 weeks of its launch. This record is unlikely to be surpassed by any other first-party Sony-developed game. Since its explosive debut, the game has seen significant events such as a reversal on PSN account requirements on Steam, review-bomb campaigns, and a community frequently at odds with the game itself due to contentious nerfs and buffs.

Arrowhead has faced challenges in managing a significantly larger and more mainstream playerbase than ever before. Now, 14 months after Helldivers 2's release on PC and PlayStation 5, the developer reflects on past experiences. Has Arrowhead begun to master the demanding landscape of live-service gaming? Following their collaboration with Killzone, could a partnership with Warhammer 40,000 be on the horizon?
