Following the successful launch of Avowed, both Microsoft and Obsidian are thrilled with the game's sales performance. In a recent interview with Bloomberg on February 22, 2025, Avowed Game Director Carrie Patel shared her vision for the franchise's future. While no official plans have been announced, Patel expressed a keen interest in exploring further expansions and a sequel. She remarked, "Now that we’ve built this wonderful world, and also built this team strength and muscle memory around the content and gameplay in this world, I’d love to see us do more with it."

Changes in Avowed During Development

The development of Avowed was a journey filled with challenges and transformations. Patel described the process as "messy," yet ultimately rewarding. Initially conceived in 2018, the project faced hurdles as Obsidian navigated the complexities of being an independent studio before its acquisition by Microsoft in 2020.
