Many Marvel Rivals players are experiencing extended shader compilation times on launch. This guide offers a workaround to significantly reduce this delay.

Addressing Slow Shader Compilation in Marvel Rivals

Game launches, especially online titles, often involve various processes. However, Marvel Rivals PC players report lengthy shader compilation times, sometimes exceeding several minutes. Shaders are crucial programs managing visual aspects like lighting and color in 3D environments. Incorrect shader installation can lead to various issues. While the problem isn't necessarily a user error, a community-discovered solution exists.

A Marvel Rivals subreddit user, Recent-Smile-4946, provided a solution addressing this prolonged compilation:

  1. Access Nvidia Control Panel: Locate and open your Nvidia control panel.
  2. Adjust Shader Cache Size: Navigate to global settings and find the Shader Cache Size option.
  3. Set Lower Value: Set this value to a size less than or equal to your VRAM. Available options are typically 5 GB, 10 GB, and 100 GB. Select the closest option to your VRAM.

This adjustment reportedly reduces shader compilation time to mere seconds and resolves "Out of VRAM memory" errors.

While this workaround is effective, players may prefer to await an official patch from NetEase. As of this writing, the developer hasn't publicly acknowledged the issue. To avoid extended loading times, consider implementing this temporary solution.

Marvel Rivals is currently available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S.
