LEGO Launches In-House Gaming Projects

LEGO CEO Niels Christiansen has unveiled ambitious plans for the company, signaling a significant expansion into the digital realm through the development of video games. LEGO aims to create engaging experiences for children of all ages, leveraging both digital and physical platforms. Christiansen emphasized LEGO's commitment to developing games in-house while also maintaining partnerships with external developers.

“We are confident that, as long as we operate under the LEGO brand, we aim to create experiences for children of all ages across both digital and physical platforms. Developing games internally is something we are actively pursuing.” - Niels Christiansen

This strategic move does not mean LEGO will cease licensing its brand to third-party developers. For example, journalist Jason Schreier recently reported that TT Games, renowned for its LEGO-themed titles, is currently developing a new LEGO game, possibly linked to one of Warner Bros.' franchises.

LEGO's most notable gaming venture to date is its collaboration with Epic Games. Last year, Fortnite introduced a LEGO-themed mode that rapidly became one of the game's most beloved features. Additionally, LEGO has a long history with TT Games, known for its adventure game series spanning over two decades. Although new projects from TT Games have been relatively quiet, rumors indicate that a LEGO Harry Potter game is in development, inspired by the commercial success of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.

Furthermore, LEGO's partnership with 2K Games resulted in the launch of LEGO 2K Drive, a racing game released last year, demonstrating the brand's versatility and commitment to diversifying its presence in the gaming industry.
