More Halo News from Microsoft in October

Dec 15,25

What's next for Halo? Fans can expect another exciting preview this October at the Halo World Championship 2025.

In a recent blog post, Tahir "Tashi" Hasandjekic, Esports Lead for the Halo franchise, encouraged fans to attend the event in Seattle from October 24-26 to discover what Halo Studios has been developing.

Last October, during the same tournament, developer 343 Industries announced its rebranding to Halo Studios and confirmed multiple projects were underway. The studio also revealed that all future Halo games would be built on Unreal Engine, moving away from the Slipspace Engine used for Halo Infinite.

These announcements were made through a seven-minute video shown before the Halo World Championship grand finals. The footage highlighted Project Foundry—an experimental initiative demonstrating Halo's capabilities on Unreal Engine—and signaled a fresh start for Xbox's flagship series following 2021's Halo Infinite.

In his post, Tashi referenced last year's reveals and hinted at more news coming this October.

"Recently, there's been plenty of speculation about when and where we'll share details about the various projects Halo Studios is currently developing," Tashi stated. "While we typically don't comment on such rumors, this time we wanted to join the conversation and give Halo fans additional insight as they decide whether to attend this year's championship.

"Last year at HaloWC, we launched 'A New Dawn' where we discussed our transition to Unreal Engine, provided a behind-the-scenes look at Project Foundry, and introduced our evolution into Halo Studios as we began this new chapter. For us, 'A New Dawn' was just the starting point—at this year's HaloWC, we're excited to continue the discussion."

"Speculation can be entertaining, but if you want official information about Halo Studios' current work, you won't want to miss this year's Halo World Championship. We truly hope you'll join us in Seattle this October!"

So what might Halo Studios have planned for the announcement? While a full gameplay reveal of the next major Halo title seems unlikely, we might see a more detailed technical demo showcasing Halo running on Unreal Engine. Earlier this month, reports suggested Microsoft is preparing a Halo: Combat Evolved remaster for 2026, which could potentially be showcased. The unannounced remaster is also reportedly being considered for release on competing platforms, including PlayStation 5.
