Freedom Wars Remastered: Enhanced Gameplay and New Features Revealed

A new trailer for Freedom Wars Remastered showcases the game's revamped gameplay and control systems, offering a fresh look at this dystopian action RPG. Players will once again battle colossal mechanical creatures, upgrade their equipment, and undertake challenging missions in a world depleted of resources.

The remastered version boasts significant enhancements, including stunning upgraded visuals, faster-paced combat, and a refined crafting system. Bandai Namco's recent trailer highlights these improvements and more. Freedom Wars Remastered launches January 10th for PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC.

Freedom Wars Remastered's core gameplay loop remains true to its predecessor: confronting massive mechanical adversaries known as Abductors, harvesting their components, and upgrading gear for more effective combat. This formula, strikingly similar to the Monster Hunter series (though set in a futuristic world), was initially exclusive to the PS Vita. The game's story centers on a "Sinner," convicted simply for the crime of being born, who must complete missions for their Panopticon (city-state) to serve their sentence. These missions, ranging from citizen rescue to Abductor extermination and control system capture, can be tackled solo or with online co-op partners.

Remastered Enhancements:

The trailer details several key improvements. Graphics receive a substantial boost, reaching 4K resolution (2160p) at 60 FPS on PS5 and PC. PS4 players will enjoy 1080p at 60 FPS, while the Switch version maintains 1080p at 30 FPS. Gameplay is noticeably faster thanks to refined mechanics, increased movement speed, and new attack cancellation capabilities.

The crafting and upgrade systems have been completely overhauled for improved user-friendliness. Players can now attach and detach modules freely, and a new module synthesis feature allows for enhanced modules using resources obtained from rescued citizens. Finally, a challenging "Deadly Sinner" difficulty mode caters to experienced players, and all original customization DLC from the PS Vita release is included from the outset.
