Marcin Iwiński, co-founder of The Witcher 3 developer CD Projekt Red, emphasized that the studio has embraced its core strength: producing "AAA RPGs—open-world, narrative-driven experiences."

During an episode of the studio's AnsweRed podcast, Iwiński and joint-CEO Adam Badowski discussed CDPR's evolution, acknowledging past experimentation while reaffirming their commitment to open-world RPGs.

"We've learned one crucial lesson," Iwiński stated. "Success demands ruthless focus. We could chase endless creative possibilities, but history shows we excel when doubling down on our expertise—pouring 100% into what truly defines us."

Badowski expanded: "That's why we evolved from single-project development to managing multiple titles—all aligned with our strategic vision. Our niche remains crafting premium open-world RPGs with rich narratives."

"It sounds obvious," Iwiński conceded, "but scaling brings distractions. Seeing others succeed elsewhere tempts us, but discipline means reinforcing our identity—overextending leads to compromised quality."

"Innovation excites us," Badowski added, "but integration requires patience. Initial enthusiasm must translate into viable long-term execution within our framework."

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has surpassed 60 million lifetime sales—including base game and Game of the Year editions—with expansion packs contributing additional unreported figures.

Recently announced, The Witcher 3 will receive a 2025 update introducing revolutionary cross-platform mod support—enabling console players to access mods for the first time. This milestone patch celebrates the game's 10th anniversary, streamlining mod creation and sharing across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
