"Saros: Housemarque's New Game After Returnal, Set for 2026"

Mar 29,25

Housemarque has unveiled Saros, the eagerly anticipated follow-up to their 2022 roguelite hit, Returnal. Featuring the talented Rahul Kohli, Saros is set to launch in 2026 exclusively for the PlayStation 5, with enhancements tailored for the PS5 Pro.

The announcement came during today's PlayStation State of Play, where Saros showcased its signature Housemarque style. Players will step into the shoes of Arjun Devraj, a Solatri enforcer, on a quest for truth on a perilous, ever-changing planet shrouded by an eclipse and menaced by a formidable entity. The game's theme of "come back stronger" echoes the essence of roguelikes, while the barrage of fireballs hints at Housemarque's love for bullet-hell mechanics.

Creative director Gregory Louden describes Saros as the "ultimate evolution" of Housemarque's gameplay-centric approach. While it introduces a fresh single-player narrative, it builds upon the third-person action framework established by Returnal. However, Saros introduces a significant gameplay innovation: permanent resources and progression. Although the world transforms with each player's demise, you'll have the ability to permanently enhance your weaponry and suits, adding a new layer of strategy and persistence.

Housemarque promises more details later this year, including an extended gameplay demonstration that will give fans a deeper look into what Saros has in store.
