Dawnwalker Unveils Intriguing Details for Upcoming Vampire RPG

Rebel Wolves studio developers have revealed insights into their forthcoming vampire RPG. They are focusing heavily on the protagonist's "duality," a defining feature of the game.

Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, the project's game director, explained that the team aims to craft a character inspired by Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. This concept, familiar from classic literature and pop culture, remains largely unexplored in video games, bringing a fresh surreal dimension. Tomaszkiewicz is confident players will embrace this novel approach, as it breaks new ground in the genre.

The game director also highlighted plans to explore player engagement with a protagonist who is an ordinary human without supernatural abilities for part of the game. This creates a striking contrast between the character’s two personas. However, implementing such concepts demands careful execution, as many RPG elements are so ingrained that their absence could confuse players.

Tomaszkiewicz noted the challenge developers face in balancing innovation with tradition in RPGs. Deciding which mechanics to tweak and which to preserve is critical, as genre fans often resist even minor changes, sparking lively discussions.

He pointed to Kingdom Come: Deliverance as an example, where the restricted save system tied to schnapps divided players. This underscores the need to balance creativity with audience expectations.

The game’s gameplay premiere is slated for summer 2025.
