Blizzard Fails to Extend Diablo 3 Event
Diablo 3 fans eagerly await the annual "Fall of Tristram" event, which traditionally ends on February 1. Despite requests from the community to extend the event, Blizzard's community manager, pezradar, has confirmed that it's not feasible at this time. "I asked about Tristram and the possibility of extending it, but unfortunately [the event] is hard-coded and it's impossible to make server-side fixes," pezradar stated, dashing hopes for a prolonged celebration.
In addition to addressing the "Fall of Tristram" event, pezradar also shared insights on the delay of Diablo 3's Season 34 of Call of Light. This unexpected delay has disrupted some players' weekend plans. "I'm sorry. It's not what I was hoping for. We were notified about 24 hours before we had to adjust the time," pezradar explained. The delay stems from the need to develop new code to facilitate smoother transitions between seasons, following issues with the automatic scheduler that prematurely ended the previous season. "The extra time allows us to implement and test the new code, and ensure that players' progress is transferred smoothly from their accounts," he added. Acknowledging the need for better communication, pezradar noted, "We can improve communication with players at earlier stages, and the team is aware of this for the future."
Meanwhile, Wolcen Studio has announced Project Pantheon, an exciting new free-to-play combat role-playing game with elements of extraction shooter mechanics. The first closed alpha testing for European players is set to begin on January 25, with North American players joining on February 1. Game director Andrei Cirkulete highlighted the unique blend of gameplay, saying, "We've blended the tension and risk reward of an extraction shooter with the battle dynamics of combat role-playing games." Project Pantheon draws inspiration from games like Diablo and Escape from Tarkov, aiming to immerse players in a world where they assume the role of a messenger of Death tasked with restoring order to a devastated world.
