为纪念Counter-Strike 25周年，Counter-Strike的联合创始人之一Minh "Gooseman" Le接受了Spillhistorie.no的采访。Le和他的合作伙伴Jess Cliffe创作了这款最受欢迎的第一人称射击游戏之一Counter-Strike，如今它被认为是该类型的经典之作。

作为一名大学生，Le于1998年开始将Counter-Strike开发为Half-Life的mod。
“我的灵感来自于许多我过去玩过的老街机游戏，例如Virtua Cop、Time Crisis。我还深受香港动作电影（吴宇森）、好莱坞电影（如《惊爆点》、《谍影重重》、《空军一号》和90年代的汤姆·克兰西电影）的影响。”1999年，Cliffe加入了他，一起制作Counter-Strike的地图。
Counter-Strike于6月19日庆祝了它的25周年纪念日，标志着它在FPS粉丝中长盛不衰的人气。它的最新版本Counter-Strike 2每月拥有近2500万玩家。尽管FPS游戏竞争激烈，但Valve对Counter-Strike系列的投入使这款游戏蓬勃发展。
