Short Circuit Studio has revealed a fresh update for TownsFolk, its recently launched settlement-building game. Named "Shadows and Fortune," this update aligns with the game's pixel-art charm and darker narrative, introducing a host of new mechanics for players to explore.

Despite its recent release, TownsFolk continues to evolve with added depth. The update brings new buildings and challenges that shake up both campaign and Skirmish modes. Roaming Barbarians now heighten the tension, while eight new structures—Altar, Town Square, Blacksmith, Aqueduct, Bank, Granary, Factory, and Terraformer—offer fresh strategic options.

Water tiles gain new life with the rare Whale and Special Locations like ancient Obelisks and Shipwrecks, adding unpredictability to the gameplay.

To keep things clear, a new Compendium serves as an in-game encyclopedia, tracking all elements. The Exploration System has also been revamped, with adjustable Campaign Difficulties now offering Frontier and Survival modes.
