The much-anticipated reveal of Death Stranding 2 at South by Southwest (SXSW) 2025 in Austin, Texas, brought fans a thrilling new trailer and heaps of fresh details. The spotlight was on a 10-minute pre-order trailer that showcased new characters and gameplay, sparking excitement and speculation across the gaming community.

Directed by the visionary Hideo Kojima, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach (DS2) promises to delve deeper into the theme of human connectivity within a post-apocalyptic world. The trailer, premiered during the SXSW panel on March 9, 2025, offered tantalizing glimpses of the game's narrative and mechanics.

Kojima was joined by PlayStation’s Global Content Communications Manager Kristen Zitan, along with key actors from the game, including Norman Reedus reprising his role as Sam Porter Bridges, Troy Baker, and the French Music Director and Designer Woodkid. The trailer introduced a new character, Neil, portrayed by Luca Marinelli, who leads a mysterious faction. Adding fuel to the speculation, Hideo Kojima himself acknowledged this resemblance in an Instagram post from July 2020, commenting on how Marinelli, when wearing a bandana, looks remarkably like Solid Snake. This new faction, led by Neil, appears set to play a significant role in the unfolding story of Death Stranding 2.
