Pokémon Company Tackles TCG Shortages, Scalpers Post-Destined Rivals Launch
The Pokémon Company has taken a significant step to address the frustrations of fans struggling to obtain recent Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) sets. In a recent announcement, the company confirmed that reprints of sought-after sets are on the horizon, with efforts being made to ensure these products reach eager fans more effectively.
The launch of the latest set, "Destined Rivals," was marred by a series of challenges including product shortages, pre-order complications, and scalping activities. Other popular sets like "Prismatic Evolutions" and the "Blooming Waters" box have also faced high demand, making them difficult to acquire.

In a statement on the Pokémon website, The Pokémon Company acknowledged that some fans are "experiencing difficulties purchasing certain Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) products due to very high demand impacting availability."
"We understand this inconvenience can be disappointing for fans, and we are actively working to print more of the impacted Pokémon TCG products as quickly as possible and at maximum capacity to address this," the statement elaborated. "Reprinted products are expected to be available at participating retailers as soon as possible."
The company also pledged to "maximize production" for upcoming TCG expansions to enhance product availability from the outset and to "continue to reprint impacted products" to restock inventory, including at the Pokémon Center.
In response to scalping, The Pokémon Company indirectly addressed the issue by emphasizing its commitment to a seamless purchasing experience at the Pokémon Center. The site currently employs a virtual queue system during peak traffic times to prioritize fans. "We will continue to explore measures that help create the best possible experience for Pokémon Center customers," the company stated. "We’d like to thank the community for their continued support and patience as we work to deliver more Pokémon TCG products to fans."
With these assurances, fans are hopeful that collecting and enjoying the Pokémon TCG will become less challenging with the arrival of new sets.
