Genshin Impact's Wriothesley Rerun Rumored for Version 5.4

A leak suggests Wriothesley's return to Genshin Impact's event banners in Version 5.4, ending a year-long wait. This highlights the game's ongoing challenge in balancing its extensive roster of over 90 playable characters with limited rerun slots. The current system, even with the addition of the Chronicled Banner, struggles to provide timely reruns for all characters.

While the Chronicled Banner aimed to alleviate this issue, its effectiveness is debated, as seen with Shenhe's extended wait. Until the introduction of triple banners, extended rerun periods are likely to persist.

Wriothesley, a Cryo Catalyst introduced in Version 4.1, is a strong Cryo hypercarry whose absence has been felt since November 8, 2023. The leak, originating from Flying Flame, predicts his appearance in Version 5.4's event banners. This aligns with a recent Spiral Abyss buff that benefits his playstyle.

However, caution is advised as Flying Flame's leak record is mixed. While their prediction of a new Chronicled Banner proved accurate, other leaks have been inaccurate. Therefore, this information should be considered speculative.

Version 5.4 is also anticipated to introduce Mizuki, potentially Inazuma's first Standard Banner character. If both Mizuki and Wriothesley are featured, the remaining event banner slot might feature either Furina or Venti, as they are the only Archons yet to receive sequential reruns. Version 5.4's launch is projected for February 12, 2025.
