Hashino, when discussing the studio's future, expressed interest in developing a game set during Japan's Sengoku period. He envisions this historical setting as ideal for a new Japanese role-playing game (JRPG), potentially drawing inspiration from the Basara series.

While there are currently no concrete plans to create a Metaphor: ReFantazio sequel, Hashino emphasized his commitment to completing the current project. He revealed the game was originally conceived as the third major JRPG series following Persona and Shin Megami Tensei, aiming for it to become a flagship title for Atlus.

Despite earlier statements ruling out a direct sequel, the team is already working on their next project, which is unlikely to be Metaphor: ReFantazio 2. However, an anime adaptation is under consideration. Metaphor: ReFantazio has already achieved significant success, boasting Atlus' most successful platform launch to date.

The game's peak concurrent player count surpassed 85,961, significantly outperforming Persona 5 Royal (35,474 players) and Persona 3 Reload (45,002 players). Metaphor: ReFantazio is available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
