Pokémon TCG Pocket Dev Gifts Players Trade Tokens But Still Doesn't Have Answers to Fix Controversial Feature

Creatures Inc., the developer of Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket, has addressed player concerns regarding the recently implemented trading mechanic by gifting players 1,000 Trade Tokens. This is enough for only two substantial trades. The developer posted on X/Twitter acknowledging player feedback and requesting continued patience while they work on improvements.

The initial introduction of trading was met with significant backlash, with many players criticizing the restrictive mechanics and high cost of Trade Tokens. Players found the requirement of deleting five cards to trade one of the same rarity unacceptable.

This follows a previous announcement where Creatures Inc. solicited player feedback, leading many to believe the trading system would be more user-friendly. However, the developer later admitted that some restrictions hindered casual enjoyment of the trading feature.

While promising to address these issues through future event rewards, the recent Cresselia ex Drop Event (released February 3rd) failed to include any such rewards, further fueling player frustration.

Many players believe the trading system is designed to increase revenue for Pokémon TCG Pocket, which reportedly generated $200 million in its first month, before the trading feature was available. This suspicion stems from the inability to trade cards of 2-Star rarity or higher, a restriction seemingly designed to encourage players to spend money on packs to obtain rare cards. One player reported spending approximately $1,500 to complete the first set.
