Sony's Helldivers 2 is getting the big-screen treatment! At CES 2025, PlayStation Productions and Sony Pictures announced a film adaptation of the wildly popular shooter game.

Asad Qizilbash, head of PlayStation Productions, made the exciting announcement: "We're thrilled to confirm that we've commenced development on a Helldivers 2 movie." While specifics remain under wraps, expect spectacular space combat to dominate the silver screen.

Developed by Arrowhead Studios, Helldivers 2, a game reminiscent of the classic Starship Troopers, has achieved phenomenal success. It became PlayStation Studios' fastest-selling title, boasting 12 million copies sold within its first 12 weeks. The recent Illuminate update, reintroducing enemies from the original Helldivers, further fueled its popularity.

Adding to the excitement, a Horizon Zero Dawn movie is also in the works, a collaboration between PlayStation Studios and Columbia Pictures (the studio behind the 2022 Uncharted adaptation).

Qizilbash offered a sneak peek: "We're in the early stages of the Horizon Zero Dawn film, but we can assure fans that this world and its characters will receive their first-ever cinematic portrayal."
