The Nintendo Switch 2's price is a hot topic in the gaming world. Analysts at IGN predict a $400 launch price, a figure supported by a recent Bloomberg report citing Japan-based analysts. This would be significantly higher than the original Switch, with some analysts suggesting a potential $499 price point isn't out of the question. However, the expectation is for massive launch sales, potentially the biggest console launch ever, regardless of the final price. "They will sell boatloads of Switch 2 in the first months, almost regardless of the price," Tokyo analyst Serkan Toto told Bloomberg.

This anticipated popularity stems from a strong launch lineup. Toto expects a new Mario Kart (as hinted by Nintendo), a new 3D Mario title, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, and Metroid Prime 4 within the first year. Third-party support is also expected, including Call of Duty from Activision. A substantial list of rumored third-party titles is circulating, with Firaxis (developers of Civilization 7) calling the Switch 2's Joy-Con mouse mode "definitely intriguing" in an IGN interview. Nacon, publisher of titles like Greedfall 2 and RoboCop: Rogue City, has confirmed Switch 2 game readiness. Hollow Knight: Silksong is also rumored, and EA has expressed interest in bringing Madden, FIFA, and The Sims to the platform. Note that Activision hasn't confirmed Switch 2 plans, and Nintendo hasn't commented on these reports.

A June 2025 release date is gaining traction in both online and industry circles. Analyst Robin Zhu of Sanford C. Bernstein told Bloomberg a June launch is expected, with an initial 6-8 million units. Selling through this initial stock would easily surpass the sales pace of previous consoles.
