Nintendo Switch 2 players have noticed their controllers’ vibration feature deactivating when the console detects extended use of the rumble function.

Since the Switch 2 launched earlier this month, reports have surfaced about warnings for excessive rumble use. A message appears on-screen stating, "Rumble disabled due to extended use," temporarily halting Joy-Con vibration.

"I first saw this warning after about 90 minutes of handheld gaming," a user shared on Reddit. "Now it pops up within 20 minutes. Is anyone else experiencing this?"

Switch 2 owners report rumble issues across various games, including intense vibration moments in Cyberpunk 2077, particularly when firing the minigun, and during cutscenes in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker on Nintendo GameCube.

A Reddit thread tracking the issue mentions other affected games. "I got the warning during the final boss in Sonic Generations," one frustrated player wrote. "It’s happened multiple times in Fast Fusion," another added.

Nintendo has not yet commented on the issue, but players speculate the feature aims to conserve Joy-Con battery life. Vibration consumes additional power, and while disabling it entirely seems drastic, it helps prevent rapid battery drain.

"I keep getting this warning, even after just a few minutes of play," a concerned player noted in another Reddit thread. "I’m worried my Joy-Con might be faulty."

Currently, affected players say their only workaround is to completely disable controller rumble in the Switch’s settings to avoid repeated pop-ups. Some report the restriction is temporary, with vibration resuming after a short period.
