Hyper Light Breaker Character Guide: Unlockable Breakers and Playstyles

Hyper Light Breaker offers a diverse roster of characters, each with unique playstyles. This guide covers all currently available Breakers, including how to unlock them. Note that this guide reflects the early access version; more characters may be added later.

How to Unlock New Characters

To unlock new characters, you need Abyss Stones. These are dropped by Crowns (bosses). First, locate Prisms (indicated by golden diamond icons on the map); these act as keys to access boss arenas. After defeating a Crown, return to the Cursed Outpost's teleporter. Select the Breaker you wish to unlock and spend your Abyss Stones to add them to your roster. Currently, only two characters are unlockable via this method; the unlock method for future characters may differ.

All Characters and Their SyComs

Each character starts with a SyCom, determining their base stats and core abilities, significantly impacting their playstyle.

Vermillion:

• Default SyCom: Gunslinger: Favors ranged combat; critical hits on Rail shots guarantee a subsequent critical hit.
• Unlockable SyCom: Tank: Rewards perfect parries with increased armor; boasts superior defensive and melee stats.

Lapis:

• Default SyCom: Lightweaver: Boosts Rail shot damage after collecting a Battery.
• Unlockable SyCom: Warrior: Increases core stats with each upgrade, making her exceptionally powerful late-game.

Goro:

• Default SyCom: Astrologer: Accelerates Blade skill charge while firing.
• Unlockable SyCom: Sniper: Significantly increases critical hit rate, enhancing his high-damage, high-risk playstyle.
