Hearthstone has kicked off the Year of the Raptor with a myriad of new content
Hearthstone's Year of the Raptor: Esports Returns, Core Set Revamped, and Arena Update Incoming
Hearthstone ushers in the Year of the Raptor with a new expansion cycle, a Core Set update, and the exciting return of esports. The first expansion, Into the Emerald Dream, is on the horizon, preceded by a special pre-release event. Players can also anticipate a visually and audibly enhanced Year of the Raptor game board.
This year's Core Set update blends returning favorites with balance adjustments and brand-new cards. To improve gameplay, certain cards known for burst damage and frustrating mechanics have been removed. Further details regarding the update will be revealed closer to its launch.
Competitive Hearthstone is back in a big way, featuring two Seasonal Championships and a World Championship in 2025. In partnership with Netease Thunderfire, this initiative boasts a minimum $600,000 prize pool, aiming to attract a wider range of competitive players. Specifics on the tournament format and rules will be shared shortly.
A significant Arena update is slated for Patch 32.2, following the release of Into the Emerald Dream. While details remain confidential, this update promises a refined drafting experience and a fresh take on the Arena mode. The patch will also include a Battlegrounds Seasonal Update and the Into the Emerald Dream Mini-Set, arriving a patch earlier than usual.
A revised patch schedule, designed to better synchronize development and content releases, is also in effect. The Into the Emerald Dream expansion will maintain its standard structure, including all planned updates and events. The schedule will revert to its normal pattern with Patch 33.0, after Patch 32.4.
