Rebellion CEO Jason Kingsley has expressed a fondness for the Evil Genius franchise, hinting at the potential for a third installment but stopping short of any official confirmation. The series, which holds a special place in his heart, is currently under consideration for how it might evolve and expand to new heights.

Kingsley suggests that the theme of world domination could transcend the traditional base-building simulator genre, opening up possibilities in other strategic game formats. While concrete projects are still in the early stages of discussion, the creative team at Rebellion is buzzing with innovative ideas for the future of the franchise.

Evil Genius 2, launched in 2021, garnered "mostly positive" reviews from critics on Metacritic. However, the reception was less enthusiastic among the general player base. Despite enhancements in graphics and efforts to rectify issues from the original, many felt the sequel did not live up to its predecessor. Criticisms focused on the global map, the handling of minions, the degradation of various structures, and several other elements, indicating areas for potential improvement in future iterations.
