A Daily Grind: No Hits, New Weapons, Same Boss

Instead of passively awaiting Nightreign's launch, chickensandwich420 devised a unique challenge: defeating Messmer each day on NG+7, employing a different weapon each time and achieving a flawless, no-hit victory. This demanding feat began on December 16, 2024. His initial plan involved various FromSoftware bosses, but his university studies necessitated a more focused approach.

Messmer, the second antagonist in Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, is renowned for his brutal difficulty. Players frequently report needing 30 to over 150 attempts to defeat him, even with optimal equipment. chickensandwich420's commitment is truly remarkable.

However, the challenge has a June deadline. Should Nightreign not release by then, chickensandwich420 will pivot to other games. This self-imposed limit translates to roughly 160 Messmer battles. At the time of writing, he's on day 23.

Elden Ring: Nightreign, a three-player co-op spin-off set within the Elden Ring universe, was announced at The Game Awards 2024, with a planned 2025 release. Given FromSoftware's history, however, delays are a possibility. Whether chickensandwich420 completes his monumental task before Nightreign's launch remains to be seen.
