Microsoft Making Big Changes to Game Pass Quests and Rewards

Feb 02,25

Xbox Game Pass is enhancing its rewards program with the introduction of Quests for PC users, launching January 7th. This update, however, introduces an age restriction.

Key Changes:

  • Quests for PC Game Pass: PC Game Pass subscribers (18+) will now gain access to Quests, previously exclusive to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. This expands reward earning opportunities.
  • Age Restriction (18+): Access to Quests and the Rewards Hub is limited to players 18 years and older. This change prioritizes age-appropriate gaming experiences.
  • New Quest Types: The updated system features daily, weekly, and monthly Quests:
    • Daily Play: Earn 10 points daily by playing any Game Pass title for at least 15 minutes.
    • Weekly Streaks: Playing at least five days a week earns points, with multipliers increasing for consecutive weeks (2x for two weeks, 3x for three, and 4x for four or more).
    • Monthly Packs: Earn points by playing four (Monthly 4-Pack) or eight (Monthly 8-Pack) different games (15 minutes each). The 4-Pack games count towards the 8-Pack.
  • PC Weekly Bonus: A 150-point bonus for playing at least 15 minutes for five or more days a week.
  • Rewards Hub Accessibility: The Rewards Hub, accessible via Xbox console, Windows PC app, and mobile app, is no longer available to users under 18.

This revamped system simplifies reward earning with consistent daily, weekly, and monthly opportunities. The return of weekly streaks with escalating multipliers encourages regular playtime. The addition of monthly packs incentivizes exploring the diverse Game Pass catalog. However, the age restriction means players under 18 will only be able to earn rewards through parental purchases from the Microsoft Store.
