Nintendo Ensures Ample Switch 2 Stock for U.S. Market in 2025

Will it be challenging to secure a Nintendo Switch 2 in the U.S. at launch or throughout 2025? Doug Bowser, president of Nintendo of America, assures that the company is prepared to meet consumer demand with sufficient units through the holiday season.

In an IGN interview discussing the new Nintendo San Francisco store, Bowser noted a “robust” response to the Switch 2 but emphasized a strategy for a “steady product supply” in 2025. The Switch 2 is set to launch on June 5.

“[Nintendo President] Mr. [Shuntaro] Furukawa recently shared that we project 15 million units for Nintendo Switch 2 and 4.5 million for the original Switch this fiscal year,” Bowser stated.

“This forecast aims to replicate the success of the original Nintendo Switch in its first 10 months. In the U.S., we’re confident our production and supply chain will satisfy consumer demand. The enthusiastic response to Switch 2 preorders shows strong interest, and we’re committed to maintaining a steady flow of units through the holidays.”

This is encouraging news for U.S. consumers eager to purchase a Switch 2 this year. Preorders for the console, priced at $449.99, began on April 24 after a tariff-related delay, and demand has been intense. Nintendo has cautioned U.S. customers who preordered through the My Nintendo Store that delivery by the release date isn’t guaranteed due to high demand.

However, Bowser’s remarks suggest that those who’ve preordered a Switch 2 should receive their units. For more details, see IGN’s Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order guide.

Concerns have also surfaced about potential price hikes for the Switch 2 and its games due to tariffs. When asked about maintaining the $450 price point, Bowser remained noncommittal but highlighted Nintendo’s pricing commitment.

Bowser responded cautiously, noting that Nintendo had “set a precedent” by announcing the Switch 2 at $450 and the Mario Kart World bundle at $500.

“By establishing these price points for the single unit at $449 and the Mario Kart World bundle at $499, we aimed to reassure consumers,” Bowser said.

“Even with recent tariff announcements, we wanted to ensure affordability. The situation remains fluid, and it’s hard to predict changes in the coming weeks or months. Our goal is to keep Nintendo Switch 2 hardware and other products as accessible as possible under current or evolving market conditions.”
