Cyberpunk 2077’s scrapped lunar DLC, a project of ambitious scale, has been partially revealed thanks to dataminer SirMZK. Leaks unearthed from the game's code showcase CD Projekt RED's original vision for a sprawling moon-based expansion.

Discovered files reveal detailed plans including lunar surface maps, designated zones like an "Exterior Movie Set" and a "Drug Lab," and even a model for a lunar rover. The planned Moon location was intended to be enormous, potentially a quarter the size of Night City, offering a fully realized open-world experience far removed from the game's familiar neon-drenched streets.

A key element of this DLC was to be the Crystal Palace, an elite space station. While cut from the final release, players can briefly see the Crystal Palace in one of Cyberpunk 2077's endings, glimpsed through a spaceship window. Further leaks point to a prototype zero-gravity bar and a related cut quest, "201," connected to the Arasaka storyline.

Hope remains among fans that some of these concepts might find their way into CD Projekt RED's upcoming project, Orion, an expansion of the Cyberpunk universe. However, the studio has yet to officially comment on the reuse of these assets.

The unreleased Moon DLC, though ultimately shelved, offers a captivating glimpse into a potential expansion that would have dramatically broadened Cyberpunk 2077's scope, seamlessly blending space exploration with the game's distinctive cyberpunk atmosphere.
