Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Update Reverses Controversial Zombies Change

Treyarch has responded to player feedback and reverted a controversial change to the Zombies Directed Mode in the latest Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 update (January 9th). The update also includes bug fixes for the Citadelle des Morts Zombies map and significant buffs to the Shadow Rift Ammo Mod. Further bug fixes and adjustments are slated for the Season 2 update on January 28th.

The January 3rd update introduced changes to Directed Mode on Citadelle des Morts, notably extending the time between rounds and increasing the zombie spawn delay after five looped rounds. This alteration proved unpopular, hindering kill farming and camo challenge completion. Player concerns regarding potential further restrictions on XP and rewards were addressed by Treyarch's decision to reverse the spawn delay change.

The January 9th patch notes confirmed the reversal, restoring the spawn delay to approximately 20 seconds after five looped rounds. Additional fixes were implemented in Directed Mode to address glitches and bugs impacting quest progression and stamp functionality. Visual glitches and crashes related to the Void Sheath Augment for Aether Shroud were also resolved.

The Shadow Rift Ammo Mod received substantial buffs, increasing normal, special, and (with Big Game Augment) elite enemy activation rates. Its cooldown timer was also reduced by 25%.

The January 28th Season 2 update promises more bug fixes, including addressing the Vermin double-attack bug. Until then, players can still earn rewards by completing the Citadelle des Morts main quest.
