"Alan Wake 2 Surpasses 2 Million Sales, Turns Profitable"

Apr 12,25

Alan Wake 2 has surpassed the impressive milestone of 2 million sales worldwide. This marks a significant increase from the 1.3 million copies sold between October 2023 and March 2024, a period during which developer Remedy celebrated the horror sequel as its fastest-selling game to date.

In its most recent financial report to investors, Remedy highlighted that this sales milestone, combined with the launch of The Lake House expansion and the Alan Wake 2 Deluxe Edition, signifies that the game has now begun to generate royalties, having successfully recovered its development and marketing expenses.

Looking forward, Remedy teased exciting developments on the horizon. Control 2, which is being crafted in collaboration with Annapurna, is nearing the end of its production readiness phase. The game is set to enter full production by the end of February 2025. Similarly, the Max Payne 1&2 Remake is also advancing steadily in full production.

FBC: Firebreak, Remedy's multiplayer spin-off from the Control universe, remains in full production. Following a successful closed technical test in December, where external players helped refine matchmaking and back-end services, FBC: Firebreak is on track for a self-published release by Remedy later in 2025.

"We are in a great place to begin our strategy period and have set targets we are confident in reaching," stated CEO Tero Virtala, reflecting the company's optimistic outlook.

In IGN's Alan Wake 2 review, the game received a remarkable 9/10 score, with the review praising it as a "superb survival horror sequel that makes the cult classic original seem like little more than a rough first draft by comparison."
