Wolcen Studio has announced Project Pantheon, a free-to-play action RPG incorporating elements of extraction shooter gameplay. A closed alpha test begins January 25th for European players, expanding to North America on February 1st.

Game director Andrei Cirkulete describes the game as a blend of "the tension and risk-reward of an extraction shooter with the battle dynamics of a combat RPG," hinting at influences from titles like Diablo and Escape from Tarkov. Player feedback is highly valued during this early testing phase.

Players assume the role of a Death messenger, tasked with restoring order to a ravaged world. Gameplay involves battling AI and other players across diverse maps. Successful evacuations preserve earned trophies, while failed attempts result in complete loot loss.

The game offers extensive customization, including base building, equipment personalization, and diverse playstyles. The world draws inspiration from various mythologies, with player trading forming the core of the in-game economy.

The initial adventure unfolds in "Destiny's Edge," a region inspired by Scandinavian folklore. Even in its alpha stage, the developers emphasize active community involvement to shape the game's development.
