What Is a Snap Recap?

If you didn't get a chance to review your Snapchat history last year, it's because the Snap Recap feature is a fresh addition for 2024. Much like Spotify Wrapped and Twitch's 2024 recap, Snap Recap compiles your year's data into an engaging summary for your enjoyment (and perhaps a bit of embarrassment). However, unlike its counterparts, Snap Recap doesn't delve into detailed statistics. Instead, it chooses a random snap from each month to showcase, offering a simple yet nostalgic look back at your year.

Stick around a bit longer, and the 2024 Snap Recap seamlessly transitions into other Memories features, including flashbacks from the same date in previous years. This allows you to revisit life events you captured, even if they were meant to be temporary.

How to View Your 2024 Snapchat Snap Recap

Your 2024 Snap Recap is automatically generated, making it easy to access. Start from the main camera page and swipe up to enter the Memories feature. Be careful not to hold down or tap the camera shutter button, as this will capture a new photo or start a video.

Once you swipe up and open the Memories menu, you'll see "Your 2024 Snap Recap" highlighted as a video. It's prominently displayed, making it hard to miss.

The recap will automatically scroll through the selected photos and videos, though it may take some time. If you're eager to move on, you can tap the screen to speed up the process, especially if you don't want to dwell on snaps like those of Psyduck-themed Ibuprofen bottles.

You can save, edit, or send your 2024 Snap Recap just like any other Snap. It can also be posted to your stories if you wish to share it with your followers. Like other Snaps, it will remain private unless you choose to share it.

Why Don’t I Have a Snapchat Recap?

If you're not seeing a 2024 Snap Recap, there could be several reasons. Snapchat Support mentions that Snap Recaps are rolling out gradually, so yours might not have been generated yet.

Snapchat also indicates that "a few factors go into whether a Snapchatter will receive a Snapchat recap." Although not all factors are listed, the number of saved Snaps is one example. If you haven't been actively using Snapchat or frequently sending photos and videos, this could be why you don't have a recap.

Unfortunately, if you still don't have a 2024 Snapchat Recap after waiting for the rollout, Support notes that you cannot request one to be created.
