Face Verification Added to Love and Deepspace Chinese Version
Love and Deepspace is set to enhance its security protocols in China with the introduction of a face verification system in April 2025. This might sound a bit intense, but it's part of a larger trend. And if you're curious about what this means for the global version, I've got some insights on that as well.
Why Is Love and Deepspace Adding Face Verification?
For Chinese players, this isn't a significant shift, as China already enforces strict real-name authentication for online games. The primary goal is to prevent minors from accessing games rated 18+, which is the rating for Love and Deepspace in China. This move aligns with China's ongoing efforts to combat gaming addiction among minors under the Minors' Protection Law. The country has been tightening regulations on the gaming industry for years, implementing measures such as strict playtime limits for minors: 90 minutes on weekdays and three hours on weekends.
Additionally, games in China are required to display 'Healthy Gaming Advice' before players start, encouraging them to take breaks and avoid excessive gaming. Facial recognition is already a common feature in daily life in China, used for security purposes in places like airports and banks.
What Does It Mean for Us?
For players outside of China, this change is unlikely to have any impact, as the verification systems are tailored to meet China's specific regulations. Love and Deepspace remains rated 12+ in most global app stores, so there's no indication that a face verification system will be added to the global version in the future.
What are your thoughts on this new feature? We'd love to hear your comments. In the meantime, don't miss out on Love and Deepspace's latest events and updates—download the game from the Google Play Store.
