Tranquil Mobile Game Debuts from Emoak Studio

Mobile gaming's innovative spirit is a captivating aspect, and Roia exemplifies this perfectly. The unique, buttonless design of smartphones, combined with their widespread use, has propelled video game development in unforeseen directions. Roia, a masterful puzzle-adventure, is the latest creation from Emoak, the indie studio behind successful titles like Paper Climb, Machinaero, and the award-winning Lyxo.

Surprisingly, Roia's core objective is simple: guide a river to the sea. Starting from a mountaintop, players gently direct the water's flow by manipulating the terrain with their finger.

Emoak's press release reveals the game's deeply personal connection to designer Tobias Sturn. His childhood memories of playing in a creek with his grandfather heavily influenced the game's creation. The game is dedicated to his grandfather, who passed away during its development.

Roia defies easy categorization. While challenges exist, the game's essence is relaxation. Players journey through beautifully crafted environments—forests, meadows, villages—guided by a helpful white bird.

The game's elegant, minimalist aesthetic, reminiscent of Monument Valley, is visually striking. Beyond its visuals, Roia boasts a captivating soundtrack composed by Johannes Johannson, who also worked on Emoak's Lyxo.

Roia is available now on the Google Play Store and App Store for $2.99.
