Top Jedi Survivors of Order 66 Ranked

May 19,25

This month marks the 20th anniversary of the release of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, the concluding chapter in the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy. Released on May 19, 2005, it was the final Star Wars film under the direct guidance of George Lucas before he sold Lucasfilm to Disney seven years later.

Fans eagerly anticipated Revenge of the Sith knowing it would showcase Anakin Skywalker's transformation into Darth Vader. A major plot point was the fate of the Jedi Order, which was addressed through Order 66. This sinister directive from Emperor Palpatine commanded the Clone Troopers, who had previously fought alongside the Jedi during the Clone Wars, to turn against and execute them. Given the thousands of Jedi in service, it was inevitable that some would escape Palpatine's grasp—beyond just those necessary for the continuity of the Original Trilogy.

In the years following, canon Star Wars stories have introduced several dozen survivors of Order 66. We've ranked the top 10 Jedi whose survival had a significant impact on the Star Wars universe. Some survived only briefly, while others persisted well into the future, and in certain cases, their ultimate fate remains a mystery. However, all these Jedi managed to live on at least one more day after Palpatine issued the infamous command to "Execute Order 66."

Our criteria for this list include characters who were under the jurisdiction of the Jedi Order prior to Order 66, regardless of their rank—whether Padawan, Jedi Knight, Jedi Master, or Jedi Initiate. This excludes Force-users like Maul and Palpatine, as well as those like Jod Na Nawood who were never officially part of the Jedi Order.

There was some debate about including Asajj Ventress, who was trained by Jedi Master Ky Narec on Rattatak for over 20 years. Despite Narec's recognition of her as his Padawan, Ventress never visited Coruscant or met the Jedi Council before Narec's death. Her subsequent turn to the Dark Side as Count Dooku's apprentice complicates her status as a Jedi. Therefore, she is considered an honorable mention.
