Tekken 8 Director Pursues Waffle House Stage, Faces Setback

Aug 02,25

Tekken enthusiasts have long requested a Waffle House-themed stage for the game. While the idea has sparked interest, the collaboration has yet to materialize despite efforts from Tekken 8's director.

On X, Tekken director Katsuhiro Harada addressed fans' persistent calls for a Waffle House stage in Tekken 8. The concept has gained significant traction, with Harada himself expressing curiosity about its potential.

Harada acknowledged that he "completely understands" the fans' enthusiasm. He revealed that he has been actively exploring the idea and has taken steps to bring it to life.

"For over a year, I’ve reached out through various channels," Harada shared on X. "However, I suspect the lack of response might stem from my association with combat-focused video games, though this is just my guess."

To be honest, within the bounds of what I can say, I fully understand your (you guys) request—that's precisely why I had considered taking on this challenge. In fact, I had already been thinking about it quite a while ago.

Harada noted that receiving "no response" is unusual. He added that if an alternative name or format is acceptable, while preserving the core concept, he would be open to revisiting the idea seriously.

For now, it appears Kazuya and Jin won’t be battling under a Waffle House sign anytime soon. A parody or in-universe equivalent, like Harada’s suggested "Hustle House," could be a viable alternative.

Tekken 8 is rolling out Patch 2.01, with Fahkumram confirmed to join the roster soon. In April, Harada addressed fan concerns about Season 2, assuring them the development team is working tirelessly to incorporate feedback and improve the game.
