Take-Two CEO Expresses Confidence in Nintendo Switch 2 Success

The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch in under a month, navigating debates over pricing, tariffs, and game key cards. Amid these discussions, one third-party publisher remains optimistic about the console: Take-Two Interactive.

During a Q&A with investors today after the company’s annual earnings report, CEO Strauss Zelnick responded to a question about Take-Two’s commitment to the Nintendo Switch 2, expressing “strong confidence” in Nintendo’s upcoming platform. He highlighted that Nintendo’s approach to third-party publishers has improved significantly compared to previous efforts:

“We’re rolling out four titles for the Nintendo Switch 2, a broader lineup than we’ve ever launched on a new Nintendo platform. Historically, third-party publishers faced challenges in the Nintendo ecosystem. Nintendo has been proactive in addressing these issues, and we’re stepping up with enthusiasm for the platform. We evaluate each platform individually, prioritizing where our audience is. Not every title will appear on every platform, but we also see strong potential for catalog titles.”

Take-Two is set to release Civilization 7 on launch day, June 5, alongside titles from the NBA 2K and WWE 2K series (specific games and dates TBD) and Borderlands 4 on September 12. These titles align with Take-Two’s existing franchises on the original Nintendo Switch. Zelnick’s comments suggest potential for additional releases, particularly from the company’s catalog, though GTA 6 is unlikely to appear, while GTA V remains a possibility.

In a conversation with Zelnick before the investor call, we discussed the company’s quarterly performance, including updates on GTA 6’s development and its recently announced delay to next year.
