Jan 22,25

Hello, fellow gamers! Welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for August 29th, 2024. Today's lineup boasts a significant number of new releases, forming the core of this Thursday's update. We'll also explore a substantial list of new sales. While we can't have daily Nintendo Directs, let's dive into the games!

Featured New Releases

Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club ($49.99)

The Famicom Detective Club returns after a long hiatus! This new entry stays true to the originals, both in its strengths and weaknesses. A fresh mystery awaits, presented in a style reminiscent of the recent Switch remakes. Can you crack the latest serial murder case? My review is coming soon.

Gundam Breaker 4 ($59.99)

Mikhail's comprehensive review provides an in-depth look at Gundam Breaker 4's gameplay and Switch performance. In short: build and battle Gunplas! While performance naturally lags behind other platforms, it's perfectly playable. Read Mikhail's excellent review for the full details.

Shadow of the Ninja – Reborn ($19.99)

Tengo Project continues its impressive streak of remakes. Following successful revivals of 16-bit classics, they now tackle an 8-bit title. Expect a departure from the original, but a solid action-platformer nonetheless. My review will be available early next week.

Valfaris: Mecha Therion ($19.99)

A Valfaris sequel, but with a twist! This is a 2.5D side-scrolling shooter, a significant departure from the original. While the genre change might surprise some, it offers a fun experience. Another review on its way!

Nour: Play With Your Food ($9.99)

I'll admit, I'm not entirely sure what this game is about. The food imagery is stunning, though. Perhaps it involves photography, hidden secrets, or a unique blend of gameplay mechanics. Mikhail might be the best person to investigate further.

Monster Jam Showdown ($49.99)

For fans of monster trucks, this game delivers! Featuring local and online multiplayer, multiple game modes, and a generally mixed reception on other platforms, it offers a niche experience for enthusiasts.

WitchSpring R ($39.99)

A possible remake of the original WitchSpring, this entry aims to capture the Atelier experience at a higher price point than previous installments. If you're a fan of the series, this iteration looks visually impressive.

Depths of Sanity ($19.99)

Dive into a fantastical underwater horror adventure! Explore a dangerous interconnected world, unravel the mystery of your missing crew, and prepare for combat. Well-received on other platforms, this title likely holds appeal for fans of exploratory action games.

Voltaire: The Vegan Vampire ($19.99)

Voltaire, a vegan vampire, rebels against his blood-thirsty father. This farming simulator with action elements might appeal to those seeking a unique blend of genres.

Marble Abduction! Patti Hattu ($11.79)

A classic marble roller game with 70 stages and 80 marbles to collect. Test your skills and aim for speed without crashing!

Leo: The Firefighter Cat ($24.99)

A kid-friendly firefighting game with 20 missions. A different take on the firefighting genre, this might be a fun choice for younger players.

Gori: Cuddly Carnage ($21.99)

A hoverboarding cat wreaks havoc! While the core gameplay is solid, the Switch version suffers from technical issues that impact the overall experience.

Arcade Archives Finalizer Super Transformation ($7.99)

A retro vertical shooter from Konami. Pilot a transforming robot and collect power-ups. A charming title for fans of classic shooters.

EGGCONSOLE Xanadu Scenario II PC-8801mkIISR ($6.49)

An early expansion pack featuring the debut of legendary composer Yuzo Koshiro. Explore a new underworld with familiar gameplay mechanics.

The Backrooms: Survival ($10.99)

A horror survival roguelite best experienced with online multiplayer (up to 10 players). Solo play caters to a more specific taste.

Can of Wormholes ($19.99)

A clever puzzle game where you're a sentient tin can dealing with worms. 100 unique puzzles keep things fresh and engaging.

Ninja I & II ($9.99)

Two NES-style microgames featuring ninja-themed challenges. Local multiplayer or CPU battles provide competitive fun.

Dice Make 10! ($3.99)

A surprisingly enjoyable puzzle game with two modes: falling blocks and classic wood block puzzles. The goal is to make dice combinations adding up to ten.
