Stellar Blade Surges in Popularity, Breaks Sales Records

Feb 23,25

Shift Up, the developer behind Stellar Blade, has announced a record-breaking year, with Stellar Blade generating $43 million in royalties. The PC version is projected to surpass the PlayStation 5 sales figures.

Game World Observer reported that Shift Up's 2024 financial report showcased a 30.4% year-over-year revenue increase, reaching $151.4 million. A significant portion, $43.2 million, stemmed directly from Stellar Blade royalties.

The company anticipates continued success, expecting PC sales to significantly outperform console sales, particularly within the Asian gaming market. While a Stellar Blade sequel remains under consideration, Shift Up plans to unveil its new title, Project Witches, in the first half of 2025.

Project Witches, unveiled in 2024 shortly after Stellar Blade's PS5 launch, precedes any significant demand for a sequel. However, Shift Up has confirmed its interest in exploring future installments within the Stellar Blade franchise.

Stellar Blade, a fast-paced action RPG, casts players as Eve, battling unknown invaders to reclaim Earth. The game achieved a 7/10 rating from IGN and sold over one million copies, demonstrating considerable player appeal. Our review noted its strong action gameplay, but criticized its underdeveloped characters, weak narrative, and frustrating RPG mechanics.
