Starfield Creation Teases PS5 Release with PlayStation Logo

Speculation that Starfield might soon be confirmed for release on PlayStation 5 intensified over the weekend after fans noticed a PlayStation logo on Bethesda's official Creations website. The logo was linked to a work-in-progress ship decals Creation for Starfield, which was later removed, fueling rumors that Bethesda's sci-fi game, currently exclusive to PC and Xbox, could soon be available on PS5.

They have added the Playstation logo to a creation. (I think they are beta testers, the logo only appears on one creation)

This development has led fans to speculate whether Bethesda is planning a significant content update or perhaps even a new expansion to coincide with Starfield's potential PS5 release. The game has seen little excitement in recent months, particularly after the lukewarm reception to the Shattered Space expansion. Microsoft, Bethesda's parent company, is expected to host another summer showcase this year, which could be the perfect opportunity to announce new developments for Starfield.

Bethesda has teased "exciting things" planned for Starfield this year, amid growing frustration from players over a lack of communication and updates. In June 2024, Bethesda reiterated its commitment to supporting Starfield and confirmed plans for at least one more story expansion post-Shattered Space. In an interview with the YouTube channel MrMattyPlays, Bethesda Game Studios' Todd Howard expressed the studio's aim to release an annual story expansion for the game "hopefully for a very long time."

IGN's review of Starfield gave it a 7/10, stating: "Starfield has a lot of forces working against it, but eventually the allure of its expansive roleplaying quests and respectable combat make its gravitational pull difficult to resist."

In January, Microsoft's gaming boss Phil Spencer hinted at the possibility of Starfield coming to PS5. Reports from as early as March 2024 suggested that both Starfield and MachineGames' Indiana Jones and the Great Circle were being considered for PS5. While Indiana Jones was later confirmed for a PS5 release in spring 2025, following its debut on PC and Xbox Series X and S, Starfield has yet to be officially announced for PS5, though Spencer's comments indicate it's a strong possibility.

Several Xbox titles are already available on PS5, including Sea of Thieves by Rare, Hi-Fi Rush by Tango Gameworks, and Grounded and Pentiment by Obsidian. Microsoft also publishes Minecraft on PlayStation consoles and various other platforms, and is set to release Doom: The Dark Ages and Ninja Gaiden 4 on PS5 later this year. Additionally, Forza Horizon 5 by Playground is confirmed to be coming to PS5 soon. There are even rumors that Microsoft is preparing to bring Halo to PlayStation, ending decades of exclusivity.

Spencer has emphasized that Xbox's strategy to release games on multiple platforms is partly driven by the need to generate more revenue for Microsoft's gaming division, especially following the massive $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

"We run a business," Spencer stated last August. "It’s definitely true inside of Microsoft the bar is high for us in terms of the delivery we have to give back to the company. Because we get a level of support from the company that’s just amazing and what we’re able to go do.

"So I look at this, how can we make our games as strong as possible? Our platform continues to grow, on console, on PC, and on cloud. It’s just going to be a strategy that works for us."

Bethesda Game Studios, with its 450 staff members, is currently managing five teams working on Starfield, Elder Scrolls 6, Fallout 76, mobile projects, and external development partnerships.
