Stardew Valley: How To Get & Use The Crystalarium

Feb 10,25

This Stardew Valley guide explains how to obtain and utilize the Crystalarium, a valuable tool for efficiently producing gemstones and minerals.

Obtaining a Crystalarium

Crystalarium Crafting Recipe

The Crystalarium recipe is unlocked at Mining Level 9. Crafting requires:

  • 99 Stone: Easily obtained by breaking rocks.
  • 5 Gold Bars: Smelt Gold Ore (found at mine levels 80 and below) using a Furnace and Coal.
  • 2 Iridium Bars: Smelt Iridium Ore (found in Skull Cavern or from the Statue of Perfection) using a Furnace and Coal.
  • 1 Battery Pack: Obtained by placing a Lightning Rod outside during a thunderstorm.

Alternatively, acquire a Crystalarium by:

  • Completing the 25,000g Community Center bundle in the Vault.
  • Donating 50 minerals to the Museum.

Using the Crystalarium

Crystalarium in Use

Place the Crystalarium anywhere (indoors or outdoors). Popular locations include the Quarry for mass production.

The Crystalarium replicates any gemstone or mineral (except Prismatic Shards). Quartz has the shortest growth time but low value. Diamonds offer the highest profit despite a 5-day growth period.

To move or change the gem being replicated:

  • Use an axe or pickaxe to retrieve the Crystalarium from its location. A gem will drop if it's currently producing.
  • To switch gems, simply interact with the Crystalarium while holding the desired gemstone. The current gem will be ejected, and the new one will begin replicating.

Efficiently use the Crystalarium to significantly increase gemstone production and profits, boosting your farm's success and improving relationships with villagers who appreciate valuable gifts. Note that post-1.6 updates slightly altered Crystalarium mechanics regarding relocation and gem changes. This guide reflects the current functionality.
