GSC Game World has officially announced S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy - Enhanced Edition, a next-generation upgrade of the beloved original trilogy set to release on May 20 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. This definitive collection brings together remastered versions of Shadow of Chernobyl (2007), Clear Sky (2008), and Call of Pripyat (2009).

Upgraded Visuals and Gameplay

Each game in the trilogy has been meticulously enhanced with improved graphics, next-gen optimizations, and expanded mod support. Players can expect stunning upgrades such as advanced lighting with god rays, screen-space reflections, and global illumination for a more immersive atmosphere. Textures and 3D models for characters, weapons, and environments have been upscaled for greater detail, while water and weather effects have been enhanced with advanced shaders. Additionally, 4K pre-rendered cinematics and improved weapon field-of-view deliver a cinematic experience during intense combat sequences.

Console Enhancements and Options

On PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, players will enjoy multiple frame-rate options tailored to their display capabilities. These include standard settings at 30 FPS and 60 FPS, along with specialized modes targeting 40 FPS and up to 120 FPS. However, the latter two options are exclusive to displays supporting Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) technology. For graphical preferences, players can choose from Quality, Balanced, Performance, and Ultra Performance modes, ensuring flexibility based on hardware and personal preference.

  Quality (native 2K/30 FPS), Balanced (upscaled 2K/40 FPS), Performance (1080p/60 FPS).

Note that both the Balanced Quality and Ultra Performance modes require displays with VRR support.

Cross-Platform and Mod Support

Existing owners of the original trilogy on Xbox Series X|S or PS5 will automatically receive the Enhanced Edition versions at no additional cost. For PC users, GSC Game World is offering a generous gesture: owners of the original titles receive the Enhanced Editions free, while purchasers of the Enhanced Editions gain access to the original versions as well. The trilogy is available as a bundle for $39.99 or individually for $19.99 per title. However, cross-platform save functionality is not supported—your progress remains tied to the platform you're using.

Modders rejoice! The Enhanced Edition introduces Mod.io integration, enabling seamless creation and sharing of mods across PC and consoles. On PC, additional features like Steam Workshop support, cloud saves, and full gamepad compatibility ensure a seamless experience whether you're playing on a controller or keyboard and mouse.
