Split Fiction Hits 2 Million Sales After Just 1 Week

Hazelight Games proudly announced that their latest co-op adventure, Split Fiction, has continued its impressive start by selling 2 million copies within just one week of its release. Launched on March 6 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, the game featuring dual protagonists quickly established itself as another triumph for the studio. Hazelight expressed their gratitude on social media, stating they were "blown away" by the overwhelming support from both new and returning fans.

The studio had previously shared that Split Fiction reached the 1 million sales mark a mere 48 hours after its launch, highlighting the rapid growth in interest for Mio and Zoe’s sci-fi narrative. This means that in the five subsequent days, another million copies were sold, reflecting the game's strong market performance.

The co-op nature of Split Fiction implies that the actual player count exceeds the number of units sold, thanks in part to the game's Friend’s Pass feature. This innovative system allows a single buyer to invite a friend to play at no extra charge, amplifying the game's reach and engagement within the gaming community. As Split Fiction continues to generate buzz on social media, the sales figures are expected to climb even higher.

Hazelight's previous hit, 2021 Game of the Year winner It Takes Two, followed a similar trajectory. It sold approximately 1 million copies shortly after its launch in March 2021, eventually reaching 10 million copies by February 2023 and an impressive 20 million by October 2024, showcasing the studio's consistent ability to captivate audiences.

In IGN's Split Fiction review, the game was praised as "an expertly crafted co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another," underscoring its unique appeal and high-quality gameplay experience.
