Spider-Man 2 PC Release Hacked in One Hour
The PC release of *Spider-Man 2* came without any protective measures, as it was not available for pre-order or pre-download. Weighing in at a hefty 140 gigabytes, the game's distribution was vulnerable right from the start. Within an hour of its release, hackers managed to download and crack the game, which lacked any sophisticated defense mechanisms.
Sony kept a low profile with the marketing for *Spider-Man 2*, and the system requirements were only disclosed a day before the game hit the PC market. Despite the anticipation, *Spider-Man 2* has secured the seventh spot among Sony's top releases on Steam, trailing behind heavyweights like *God of War*, *Horizon*, and even *Days Gone*.
Initial player feedback has been lukewarm, with the game garnering only 55% positive reviews from 1,280 reviews at the time of this post. Players have reported issues with optimization, frequent crashes, and various bugs, which have dampened the overall reception.
In contrast, *Spider-Man Remastered* continues to dominate as the top performer in the series on PC, having peaked at over 66,000 concurrent players. As we head into the weekend, it remains to be seen whether *Spider-Man 2* can approach the record set by its predecessor. If the current sales trend holds, there's a possibility that *Spider-Man 2* could still achieve a respectable outcome.
