The boys are back in town — and by the boys, we're talking about none other than Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman. South Park has officially announced the return of Season 27, and it looks like our favorite Colorado crew is tackling the state of things in their uniquely irreverent way.

The beloved animated series unveiled a new trailer that initially tricks viewers into thinking it's a sneak peek at a new drama. With intense editing and ominous music setting the stage, the trailer cleverly subverts expectations when Randy, Stan's dad, and his sister Shelley appear. Randy, sitting on Shelley's bed with a Wicked movie poster in the background, asks her if she's been taking drugs. "Because I think it could really help you," he quips, injecting the scene with South Park's signature humor.

South Park Season 27 premieres Wednesday, July 9th.

After the humorous twist, the trailer shifts back to intense action, hinting at several major (and timely) plot points for the upcoming season. Expect to see plane crashes, the Statue of Liberty being toppled, a P. Diddy cameo, and, of course, another war with Canada. Longtime fans or those familiar with the 1999 film South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut will find the latter unsurprising.

The teaser confirms that Season 27 will premiere on July 9, 2025, on Comedy Central, marking over two years since the conclusion of Season 26. In the interim, the series has released three specials: 2023’s South Park: Joining the Panderverse and South Park (Not Suitable For Children), followed by 2024’s South Park: The End of Obesity.

South Park, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022, has been a staple of Comedy Central since its acclaimed debut in 1997.
