Bloober Team, fresh off the success of their critically acclaimed Silent Hill 2 remake, has announced a new partnership with Konami to develop a game based on one of Konami's iconic IPs. While details remain shrouded in mystery, Bloober's expertise in atmospheric horror and the phenomenal reception of the Silent Hill 2 remake (which sold 2 million copies) strongly suggest another entry in the Silent Hill franchise is on the horizon. Konami will act as both publisher and rights holder for this new project.

Konami, a legendary name in gaming, sought a partner to revitalize one of their most iconic franchises – Silent Hill. Bloober Team was chosen for our expertise in horror and atmospheric storytelling. Our 2021 partnership culminated in the Silent Hill 2 remake, released in October 2022. The remake's success, achieving an 86/100 on Metacritic and 88/100 on OpenCritic, along with numerous awards including IGN Japan's Game of the Year 2024, solidified the trust between our companies. This new agreement builds on that success, furthering Bloober Team's strategic expansion within a first-party framework. Our collaboration has been incredibly fruitful, and the Silent Hill 2 remake speaks volumes. While specifics are limited, we're confident fans will be thrilled with this new collaboration. We eagerly anticipate sharing more when the time is right.

The Silent Hill 2 remake, released October 8, 2024, for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam (with an Xbox Series X|S release still unannounced), swiftly sold one million copies within days of launch. While this is speculated to be the fastest-selling Silent Hill game ever, official confirmation from Konami is pending. IGN awarded the remake an 8/10, praising it as a “great way to visit – or revisit – one of the most dread-inducing destinations in the history of survival horror.”

The Silent Hill 2 remake's success has clearly invigorated Konami's plans for the franchise, with Silent Hill f and Silent Hill: Townfall already in development.
