Shrek 5 has unveiled its all-new cast along with a brand-new teaser trailer, leaving even Movie Sonic puzzled by Shrek's fresh look. In a humorous twist, the Sonic Movie account took to TikTok to share a self-deprecating video offering "advice for green ogres." The video showcased Movie Sonic's transformation from his initial, widely criticized live-action design to the much-improved version unveiled months later.

IGN had the exclusive first look at the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog: The Movie back in 2018, and the response was mixed, with fans particularly vocal about the character's teeth, physique, tiny eyes, and oddly human fingers. In response to the backlash, director Jeff Fowler decided to revamp the controversial design, promising a more authentic look that was much better received.

While Shrek's new look hasn't sparked the same level of controversy as Sonic's initial design, Sonic's playful jab has certainly entertained fans. "You know it's bad when you see the Sonic Movie account giving Shrek 5 advice," one fan commented, while another exclaimed, "No way they actually posted this" accompanied by a crying emoji.

The fifth installment of the Shrek franchise was originally announced in 2016 but remained quiet until Chris Meledandri, CEO of animation studio Illumination, confirmed its active development in 2023. Alongside the news of Shrek 5, there were also hints of a Donkey spin-off. Universal Pictures has since delayed Shrek 5's release to December 23, 2026, and moved Despicable 3 spin-off Minions 3 into its original slot.
