For those who missed the first season, it encompasses the entire storyline of the original game and the Left Behind expansion, enriched with additional world-building narratives that enhance the overall experience. The scripts were masterfully crafted by showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, the latter being a pivotal figure in the creation of both The Last of Us video games.

In the Max series, Pedro Pascal stars as Joel Miller, with Bella Ramsey portraying Ellie. Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson, who voiced Joel and Ellie in the games, also appear in the show. The plot follows the same fundamental storyline as the game, with Joel guiding Ellie across a post-apocalyptic America overrun by fungal-infected zombies, where Ellie's unique immunity could be humanity's last hope.
