Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090: 32GB GDDR7 Memory and 575W Power Draw

Leaked information suggests Nvidia's upcoming flagship graphics card, the RTX 5090, will feature a substantial 32GB of GDDR7 video memory – double that of the anticipated RTX 5080 and 5070 Ti. This powerful GPU will, however, demand a significant 575W power supply. The official unveiling of the entire RTX 50 series, including the RTX 5090, is scheduled for Nvidia's CES 2025 keynote on January 6th.

The RTX 50 series, codenamed Blackwell, represents Nvidia's next-generation graphics cards, launching over two years after the RTX 40 series. Building on its predecessor, the new lineup will leverage Tensor Cores for AI processing, and incorporate features like DLSS upscaling, ray tracing, and PCIe 5.0 support (where compatible). This launch follows the discontinuation of some RTX 40 series models, like the RTX 4090D and RTX 4070. The RTX 50 series will directly compete with AMD's Radeon RX 9000 series and Intel's Battlemage GPUs.

Ahead of the official announcement, details about the RTX 5090 emerged, notably from Inno3D, an Nvidia AIB partner. Their iChill X3 RTX 5090, a triple-fan card occupying over three expansion slots, confirms the 32GB GDDR7 memory and the hefty 575W power draw. This power requirement represents a notable increase from the RTX 4090's 450W.

The RTX 5090's High-End Specifications Come at a Price

The RTX 5090's impressive specifications will likely translate to a premium price tag. While Nvidia hasn't disclosed pricing, industry speculation points to an MSRP starting at $1999 or higher. The entire RTX 50 series, including the RTX 5080 and 5070 Ti, will utilize a 16-pin power connector, though adapters will be provided.

The RTX 50 series will be officially revealed at Nvidia's CES 2025 keynote on January 6th at 9:30 PM Eastern Time. The industry eagerly awaits consumer response to this powerful, but potentially expensive, new generation of graphics cards.
