According to journalist Jason Schreier, the acclaimed Rocksteady Studios is developing a brand-new single-player Batman game. Details are currently scarce, with no confirmation whether it's a prequel, a sequel to the Arkham series, or a completely new story. However, one insider claims the project is a Batman Beyond game, setting players in a futuristic Gotham City, with ambitions for a full trilogy. The game is expected to launch on next-generation consoles.

The Arkham series was celebrated for its stunning visuals, and a futuristic Gotham could be Rocksteady's most impressive achievement yet. The Batman Beyond setting also elegantly addresses the challenge of replacing the iconic voice of Kevin Conroy, who sadly passed away in 2022. This shift allows the spotlight to potentially fall on Terry McGinnis or Damian Wayne, similar to Warner Bros. Montreal's plans for the canceled Arkham Knight sequel.

Rocksteady's previous project, an online shooter, unfortunately underperformed, leading to the cancellation of post-launch content within a year. The story concluded abruptly with a rushed animated sequence that retconned some controversial plot points, revealing certain fallen heroes to be clones.

Now, Rocksteady is returning to its strengths, focusing on a new solo Batman adventure. However, insiders caution that the project is still several years from release.
